Google Takeout App

Want to back up all of the documents, images, and other files you've stored on Google Drive? You can grab all of those files from Google Takeout right now, then set things up so all new files are automatically backed up to another cloud service. Here's how.

Grab All Your Files with Google Takeout

You can create a one-time backup of every file currently stored in Google Drive using Google Takeout. You can use this service to download data from all of your Google services, including Calendar, Gmail, Maps, and more, but we're going to focus on Google Drive.
If you only want to download data from Google Drive consider clicking Deselect all to get started.

Google Drive Backup

The best practice to secure your Google Drive Docs syncronized and backup is to have the Google Drive App install in one of your computers.

How to have Google Drive on your computer?
  1. Go to Google Drive download
  2. Install the application on your computer.
  3. On your computer, you'll see a folder called "Google Drive." located in Win10 in the "Quick Access" section (Window Explorer)
  4. Now you have access to all the material you previously saved in your Google Drive. You can do:
    1. Copy all those files in a safe location as a backup
    2. Drag files or folders into that folder. They will upload to Drive and you will see them on drive.google.com. In other words, they will be in the cloud. The program will synchronize whatever you add to the folder as well as remove whatever you remove from it. So use this folder wisely.

Other ways to do more automatic however less out of you control is to use the Google Takeout app. This is a Google service created to allow users to back up any of their Google Service.

Looking affordable Cloud Storage

There are many companies offering their Cloud solution however you must consider not just the price but also the reliability and support.

BE AWARE: Google gives you 15GB of free space in Google Drive, which seems like a pretty good deal compared to Dropbox's 2GB and Box's 10GB. But there's a catch -- that 15GB limit includes not only your Google Drive but also your Gmail account (messages and attachments) and Google Photos
